NUMI is a guild of designers that offer startups a full-fledged design department on subscription. Startups come to NUMI to access an entire community of vetted incredible designers.

Our designers are a community building each other up, and continuously improving their craft.

As NUMI grows, it will bring into order the fragmented and dysfunctional global market for freelance design. Should we fulfill our mission, we will:

• Create billions of dollars of opportunity for designers
• Permanently transform the options for startups in need of design help
• Build the single best platform and community in the world dedicated to design excellence

About the Company

We’re founded by a designer (RISD alum, founding designer at Imgur) and design-fluent engineer. The founders both have deep ties to the San Francisco and New York tech communities and have been working on or at startups for over a decade. We’re backed by Y Combinator.

We’re growing very fast.

About the Tech

NUMI is built on a modern Typescript stack. We use Next 13 and tPRC on Vercel, and Supabase. Our work is backend-heavy, with a focus on data integrity and orchestration between distributed systems.

These distributed systems are the SaaS platforms on which our platform is built (e.g. Slack, scheduling, payments, payouts).

About the Work

You’ll be designing and building production-grade distributed systems and UI. Examples of the kind of work will include:

• “How should we track state in our event-driven workflows? Can you break that down into tickets so we can build it? Now let’s start coding!”
